Mars, Mangal, or the Mangal Graha is the action planet and the planet of desire.
Mars, the God of War, devises energy, action, and desire. It is the bringer of survival
instinct in individuals and the nurturer of the "leftover" animal instincts that
we human beings have saved over centuries; like aggression, anger, and survival.
Mangal Graha is also the ruler of our carnal desires and our basic animalistic nature.
Mangal bellies the impulse and ensures that people act before they contemplate.
The raw, impatient, rash, aggressive and adventurous side of people is driven by
the planet, along with our competitive streak.
What is Mangalik Dosha?
The Indian Vedic marriage scenario gives utmost importance to Mangal Dosha, Kuja
Dosha, and Manglik Dosha. They are different named variants of one astrological
combination where Mars is in the Ascendant (1st House) or in the 4th, 7th, 8th or
12th house of the Vedic astrology chart. Kuja Dosha leads to delay and obstacles
in marriages hence it is advised for both partners to be having similar Kuja dosha
for a peaceful married life.
It is known that ills effects of Mangal Dosha lessen after the age of 28 and hence
Mangliks are advised to marry late.
Mangal Dosha Nivaran Puja:
A partial Kaalsarpyog is formed when inauspicious planets like Mars and Saturn are
positioned on the opposite side of 'Rahu' and 'Ketu'. The effects of this yoga are
not as adverse as the complete Kalsarp Yog.
Lord Ganesh is known to reside in the Mooladhara (or Muladhara) Chakra, which corresponds
to Mangal Graha. Hence, praying to the elephant God on Tuesdays is said to calm
down the malefic effects of the red planet. Shri Ganesha is known as "Vighnaharta,"
that is the Lord of Obstacles and removes difficulties from the people's life.
Hanuman is the granter of fortitude and strength in people, and is the lord of Mars.
He should be worshipped with Red Goolar (Ficus Glomerata) or Kaner (Oleander) to
ward off the evils caused by the red planet.
Kartikeya is the deity of war, hence rules Mars that represents action and energy.
Praying to Kartikeya or Muruga can annul the harmful effects of Mangal Dosha.
Also, to counter the effect of Kuja Dosha, people are advised to perform Mangal
Dosha Nivaran Puja. This puja service, at Rudra Centre, includes Pujan & Sthapana
(installation) of Ganesh, Navgraha, Shiva, Invocation mantras, Japa based on the
horoscope chart ('Patni Manorma', 'Katyayani', 'Mangala gauri', 'Ramayan sholkas',
'Pati Ved mantra') and Havan.
